CHILD MARRIAGE – LEGAL IN THE USA
Child Marriages in District 9.
CALIFORNIA. In September 2018, lawmakers passed SB273. The new law allows children of any age to marry while implementing meaningless barriers that are insufficient to protect children from forced marriage or the harms of early marriage.
HAWAII. No action.
ARIZONA. In April 2018, lawmakers passed HB2006 to end marriage before 16. Under the new law, 16- and 17-year-olds can marry if they have parental consent or are emancipated and there are no more than a three-year age difference between the spousal pair.
UTAH. No action.
NEVADA. No action.
